I want to say thank you to Jane Davies for posting an article about me on her blog: Philanthropy and Joelle O'Reilly-Hyland. It's good to see another philanthropist that does good to others. I'm all about helping people in need and Jane really supports me on that matter. Everybody knows that I'm a big supporter of children education and gender equality. I hope I can connect with people that share the same goals.
I think Malala Yousafzai should have a bigger platform to spread her noble message.
I recently came across a website about malaria: www.againstmalaria.com. It is a non profit organization that fights malaria by providing nets to prevent mosquito bites in African countries. The disease kills more than one million people each year and is the biggest drag on the economy the continent. According to the website, providing nets is the best way to prevent mosquito bites, therefore preventing malaria. Paul, Ogden, and I have created fundraising pages on againstmalaria.com to raise the awareness of this good cause. How would you feel if you were able to educate girls better than how they are being educated now? Imagine if she were your own daughter wouldn’t you want to help them? There are 72% of girls that are out of school all over the world and this is not because they want to be. Education All over the world there are so many girls that are out of school. Most of the reason would be because of poverty. These poor girls have to become child brides. As they become a child bride they are deprived of their childhood and their education. There is such a risk for them when they give birth. There are so many of them may die during child birth. This is unfair to them. The more education that these girls receive the better it is for them. I belong to organizations that help with providing these girls the much needed education that they deserve. When you look around at your neighbors their children are fortunate to be or have gotten their education. Imagine if they hadn’t. By educating these girls it will help in decreasing the number of HIV cases and malnutrition. Volunteering I personally love to volunteer my time towards this cause. My whole family love to volunteer. I have found that it by volunteering my time not only benefits the girls but it also benefits me as well. I benefit from it because I see how my volunteering benefits the girls. As you are helping others you will find that you will feel more energized. You will gain new friendships. Imagine all the friendships you will gain from being around all these girls. Volunteering is essentially connected to love. You will find that by volunteering to help these girls you will fall in love with them. You will find yourself getting excited with the girls in their accomplishments. They will form a bond with you. They will look at you to be their support system. I can’t emphasis enough at how important education is for these young girls. We are working hard to make sure that each one of them is getting the education that they deserve. We all know the importance of having the proper education. It will help these girls live longer, gain better health care, and not have to become child brides. This is so important to keeping these girls alive and safe. We can all make a difference in these girls’ lives.
While your daughter or daughters are going through school you start to think about what type of job they can acquire. Our daughters are fortunate because they have the ability to attend school. There are girls in other countries that don’t get the opportunity to finish school. Education is Important In other countries the number of girls that are forced into early marriage is unbelievable. This will leave these girls unprepared for the world ahead of them. Without the proper education these poor girls are totally unprepared for the life they will have to lead and also unprepared for parenthood. There is a higher risk of them dying during childbirth because they are so young. By having the proper education this will help these girls from becoming child brides and will also give them the education that they truly deserve. I believe that every one of these girls deserves the chance to have a better life. By having the proper education it will help them in more ways than they will ever imagine. One the ways is that it will keep them from becoming a child bride. By acquiring the proper education these girls are able to obtain employment later. I feel that by educating these girls you will be helping them by protecting their future and we can help them see their potential. Protecting the Girls I believe that protecting these girls is very important. Giving them the education that they deserve and need is very important for them. The statistics are so sad. One of the statistics says that there is only one girl out of 100 girls that will reach class 12. There are 68% of the girls that will be married and they will be under legal age. There is only one out two women that are able to read or write. This is sad and making a difference is what we need to do. Helping these girls as they are young will definitely benefit them in their future. There are so many ways that every individual is able to help. You can volunteer. This is an excellent way to help these girls. It will also make you feel good about helping individuals. Imagine your daughter leaving school before they reach grade 5. Some of these girls don’t know how to read or write so how can they succeed. They can’t but they need to be given a chance just like anyone else.
